Sabres @ Hurricanes

After losing his first start of the season, Jhonas Enroth bounces back with his first shutout. His 34 saves carried the Sabres. Wow, I didn't think that Weezer reference had that much relevance. His name is Jhonas!

Jason Pominville scored the only goal of the game 13 minutes into the first period. You could tell he was hungry for that goal. Pominville is proving to everyone, including me, that he's captain-worthy. Before the season started, I thought it would be Robyn Regher. I think management knows more than I do.

Although out-shined by Enroth, Brian Boucher has a strong game with 19 out of a possible 20 saves. If the 'Canes want to win a game...ever, they should work on scoring more than zero. Carolina's had an awful month. Turn it around now or changes will be made.

Stars @ Avalanche

After starting the season 11-3-0, the Stars have now lost their last four games. In that span, they've only scored three goals. John Madden comment of the day: if you don't score goals, you're not going to win. It's as simple as that.

The Avalanche swarmed Kari Lehtonen this game with 44 shots. He stopped 42 of them, but his team couldn't put anything on the board. Sorry Kari, you're still very good.

J.S. Giguere is putting up an argument for the number-one position. His last three starts have been absolutely tremendous. This one was a 24-save shutout. Not bad at all. Semyon Varlamov, hear those footsteps? They're getting louder.

Blackhawks @ Flames

Miikka Kiprusoff had quite the performance in this one. Althogether he made 30 saves, but his robberies on Jonathan Toews and Andrew Brunette really stand out. It's unfortunate he plays for a club that makes him do this on a nightly basis.

Marian Hossa extends his point streak to five games. He has nine points in that span.

Jay Bouwmeester and Curtis Glencross work together for one of the prettiest goals I've seen from this club in a long while. I couldn't find the video, but you can watch the Brunette hyperlink. For the time being, here's his second goal. Not bad either, right?

Lee Stempniak is from Buffalo and can dangle and snipe just like Patrick Kane. Well, maybe not exactly, but give credit where credits is due. He beat Duncan Keith on that one - not many do.

Other news:

Jacob Markstrom is back with the Panthers and Jose Theodore's eyes return to their position over his shoulder.
