To Los Angeles:
Frattin
MacArthur
To Toronto:
Bernier
3rd round pick
Analyze.
Measurable value:
MacArthur - On a team like Los Angeles, I could see 40-50 points.
Frattin - Just starting off his NHL career, he probably has some evolving to do. But, 15 points in 56 games in the big league isn't bad.
Bernier - Like Frattin, Bernier has some growing to do. Right now, he has 48 NHL games under his belt, going 20-17-5. Many consider this guy to be the next NHL-ready goalie.
3rd pick - the chances of nabbing a player in this round who will play a decent number of NHL games, I'll put at 1/6.
Salary per CapGeek:
MacArthur - $3.25 mil for one more year
Frattin - $925,000 for two more years
Bernier - $1.25 mil for one more year
+/- $2.95 mil
That brings TOR's cap space up to $12 mil and LA's down to around $4.7 mil.
My take: All-in-all, I think this is a fairly even trade. The Leafs get the potential starter they're looking for, while the Kings get some wings. MacArthur only has one year left, but so does Bernier. The only problem with this trade is that it leaves no real backup for LA. But there are some decent backups available: Conklin, Sanford, Auld, Ellis or B. Johnson.
Thanks for the comment. Keep 'em coming!>
